Made-to-Measure Shutters

Window shutters have been an elegant addition to stylish homes for centuries — softening light, adding privacy, improving insulation and giving your home a timeless architectural finish. Every shutter we make is hand-crafted to fit your window precisely.

Why choose shutters

Six reasons they earn their place.

01

Light Control

Adjust the louvres to filter as much or as little daylight as you want — from a soft, diffused glow to full, open views.

02

Privacy & Security

Complete control over visibility into your home, without sacrificing daylight or style.

03

Insulation

A second layer over your glazing reduces heat loss in winter, keeps rooms cooler in summer.

04

Bespoke Fit

Made to measure — bays, arches and shaped openings all welcome.

05

Durability

A one-time investment that easily outlasts curtains and blinds, adding lasting value to your property.

06

Style

A clean, architectural look that works with everything from period features to minimalist contemporary interiors.

Shutter styles

A style for every window.

Every style is custom-made and available in a wide choice of finishes, materials and colours.

Full Height shutter example

Full Height

Cover the whole window from sill to top — our most versatile style. Add a mid-rail for independent control above and below.

Best for · Living rooms, bedrooms, period properties.

Tier-on-Tier shutter example

Tier-on-Tier

Two independent sets of panels, stacked. Open the lower for ventilation, keep the top closed for privacy.

Best for · Street-facing rooms, bay windows, period homes.

Café Style shutter example

Café Style

A continental classic covering only the lower half of the window — privacy with daylight pouring in above.

Best for · Kitchens, dining rooms, town houses.

Tracked shutter example

Tracked

Larger panels that slide along a track — ideal for patio doors, bi-folds and very wide windows.

Best for · Sliding doors, open-plan spaces, room dividers.

Shaped shutter example

Shaped

Bespoke panels for arched, angled or circular windows. We celebrate the architecture rather than fight it.

Best for · Georgian arches, gable-end and character properties.

Blackout Add-on shutter example

Blackout Add-on

Add a tension-operated blackout blind behind your shutters for total light control.

Best for · Bedrooms, nurseries, media rooms.

Choosing your shutters

Three decisions, made simple.

Louvre Sizes

  • 47mm

Small windows, where slimmer slats look in proportion.

  • 63mm

    Bedroom and bathroom windows.

  • 76mm

The most popular all-rounder for living rooms and standard openings.

  • 89mm

Wider windows; a slightly more contemporary feel.

  • 114mm

Large bays, tall sash windows and big openings — bold and architectural.

Tilt Options

  • Central fixed tilt rod

    The traditional, recognisable plantation look.

  • Offset fixed tilt rod

Rod to one side for a less symmetrical, more open feel.

  • Easy Tilt (hidden)

A clean, modern, completely hidden tilt system — touch the louvres to adjust.

Materials

  • Hardwood

Premium feel, broadest colour and stain options.

  • Engineered wood

Most popular all-rounder; stable and excellent value.

  • Waterproof / ABS

    Recommended for bathrooms and kitchens.

Shutter FAQs

Good questions, clear answers.

How much do shutters cost?
Every shutter is made to measure, so prices vary by size, material, style and finish. Give us your window sizes over the phone on 0800 774 7762 and we can give you a same-day ballpark.
Can you fit shutters into bay windows?
Yes — bays are one of the things shutters do best. We make and fit shutters for square, angled and curved bays.
Do shutters block out all the light?
Closed louvres reduce light dramatically but don't blackout entirely. For full blackout, we can pair shutters with a tension-operated blackout blind behind them.
How long does it take from order to fitting?
Typically 4–6 weeks from order. Bespoke colours and shaped panels can take a little longer.

British craftsmanship

Typically 4–6 weeks.

Jasper & Finch offers an express service for our UK-made hardwood shutters. Close-to-home production means consistent quality and a typical lead time of 4–6 weeks — a fraction of the industry norm.

Build quality

Mortise & tenon.

Every Jasper & Finch shutter is assembled with traditional mortise & tenon joints — a precisely-cut tongue (the tenon) seated into a matching socket (the mortise). It's the oldest, strongest woodworking joint there is, and the reason fine furniture lasts generations.

Mortise
The socket cut into the rail — sized precisely to receive the tenon.
Tenon
The projecting tongue, trimmed for a tight, zero-play fit.
Shoulders
Four shoulders at the joint base for rigidity and a square set.
Cheeks
Sides of the tenon, dialled in for a furniture-grade finish.

Thermal performance

A second layer that genuinely works.

Glass is the weakest point in any wall. Solid hardwood shutters add a sealed insulating layer over the window — keeping rooms warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and reducing energy bills year-round. The difference shows up clearly on a thermal camera.

Before — bare window

Cool blues and purples around the glass show significant heat escaping through the window.

After — closed shutters

Warm uniform tones show heat retained inside the room.
